Phase 01 Engagement Recap

Catch up on our Listening Tour with Campus and Community Focus Groups. As part of the Campus Master Plan, focus groups were established to drive and inform the planning process. Key to the planning process will be the frequent touchpoints with these groups. In addition to these committees, interviews with university leadership, meetings with school and division leadership teams will occur, as well as presentations to key constituency groups and public open houses.

Smart Campus Planning Retreat

NAU is developing a new campus master plan. This master plan will emphasize “Smart Campus” capabilities to provide students, faculty, staff, and visitors with a unique experience. ‍NAU will be hosting a full-day retreat on the campus in Flagstaff facilitated by DLR Group, the NAU Master Plan Design Architect. We will emerge from the day with inspiring ideas, clarified aspirations, and a list of opportunities to be further explored throughout the coming year and incorporated into our IT Strategic Roadmap and Campus Master plans.

About the Master Plan

Northern Arizona University is creating its Master Plan, which includes all of NAU's properties, working in conjunction with DLR Group, a nationally recognized campus master planning and design firm. This Plan will provide a framework for land use, open space, facility development and circulation. This master plan will also emphasize Smart Campus capabilities to drive new efficiencies, contribute to our efforts to reduce carbon emissions, and effectively manage resources.

As a requirement of ABOR, the plan will prepare and update capital outlay improvement and development plans for specific identified projects. Throughout the planning process, we will engage with students, faculty, staff, and the community to solicit input, test assumptions, and build campus-wide consensus in the plan.

We look forward to your involvement as we embark on this exciting chapter in NAU’s future together.
